The sub-Rs 20,000 segment in the smartphone market is full of feature-rich smartphones and every week, we get to see a new model that inherits a feature from its flagship cousins, thereby raising our expectations of a budget smartphone. Motorola may not be as popular as it used to be a few years ago in this segment but the recently launched Motorola One Vision does make for a good choice for those who value user experience over everything else. However, Motorola is bringing another phone in the One series in India and it’s coming very soon.
According to a few media reports, Motorola has started distributing invites for the launch of the Motorola One Action. The launch is rumoured to take place on August 23, which also matches with the rumoured launch date of the Xiaomi Mi A3. Motorola hasn’t said anything publicly but given that the One Action has been frequently spotted on the web via leaks suggests the launch may indeed happen.
The One Action has mostly been leaked to an extent and the spec sheet may not even make sense. The One Action, according to leaks, is essentially similar to the One Vision in many ways, except for a few features. This phone gets the same 6.3-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with a taller aspect ratio of 21:9. The screen also has a hole-punch cutout for the front camera, similar to One Vision.
At the rear though, the leaks suggest a triple rear camera setup accompanied by a capacitive fingerprint sensor. The third camera is mostly expected to be a wide-angle camera with a 117-degree field of view, a trend that many other phones have been adopting in this price bracket. Also, this one is not using the 48-megapixel sensor as its primary.
Rest of the internals remain the same. The One Action is tipped to use the Exynos 9609 chipset and is backed by a 3500mAh battery. Being cheaper, the base variant offers 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. This will also run on a stock Android interface and could get two subsequent Android updates.
The One Action is expected to be priced lower than the One Vision. We could possibly expect a price tag of closer to Rs 17,000 in a bid to challenge the Samsung Galaxy M30 and Redmi Note 7 Pro.
